FIBER OPTIC SPLICING

Wiltech specializes in core-alignment single fusion splicing and ribbon splicing in the Outside Plant. With a fleet of specialized Mobile Fiber Optic Labs and the latest in fusion splicing technology and Fiber Optic test equipment, we can get the job done on time.

We have experience and skill in splicing in a number of settings and working with a wide variety of cables- such as armored, all-dielectric, breakout, and OPGW (Optical Power Ground Wire) cables and ADSS (All Dielectric Self Supporting) in any fiber application- splicing buried cables, aerial, hand hole or manhole, as well as any inside plant splicing you may need.

Fiber splicing normally causes lower light loss and back reflection than termination which makes it the preferred method when cable runs are too long for a single fiber or when joining two different types of cable together.

Fusion splicing – Fiber ends are aligned and then fused or welded together

  • Uses electric arc or heat
  • The 2 fibers become continuous.
  • Used primarily with single mode fiber
  • Cost per splice is lower
